Unisys steps up to outsource from India
US based IT service and solution provider Unisys – also into system integration and financial services is considering to tender some of its outsourcing work to India. This may include application maintenance alongside IT outsourcing. Olivier Houri GM for Global Transport for Unisys acclaimed that India is becoming quite tactical to the company and that Unisys is assessing its corporate building for outsourcing to India. Though he claimed that it is premature to disclose the details.
Houri added that a lot of R&D work of the company is been outsourced to some Indian partners. As such outsourcing to India by Unisys is high on cards. Unisys - he said - plans to loom other BPO players to bid IT services to them along with consulting and outsourcing services. There is little doubt over the eagerness of Unisys plans to lend outsourcing to India as the country is offering cost-oriented, quality-driven services to major clientele from US.

Outsourcing becoming grim necessity
I have mentioned somewhere earlier that outsourcing is no more a corporate obligation but turning out to be stipulation for giant US and European corporate market. Outsourcing to India while on a rise have broadened the issue and embarked that it is turning out be utter requirement. In one of the conference Wipro chief Azim Premji stated, “The truth is that outsourcing is no longer a choice but an absolute strategic necessity". It is evaluated that US corporate market is too huge to rely within for outsourcing.
At the time when we are discussing the impact of outsourcing on the European and US corporate sector – outsourcing to India is growing wide horizons. As India offers the most reliable and cost-effective IT services – unless discussed – outsourcing to India will dominate the offshoring sector for many years to come.

Probe, anger against outsourcing to India
One of the key factors behind the exceptional growth for outsourcing industry in India is the exemplary set up of the IT structure. As a developing country India had more than enough to emerge as a major IT and related service provider over last few years. While outsourcing to India is rising beyond imagination there are some other issues - emerging from the front door. Recently Michigan became the sixth US state where a bill was introduced at the judicial court to declare a ban on outsourcing offshore.
Bill to impose ban on outsourcing especially to India was already on air. In the wake of the continual job diminishing now UK has some issues to handle. A committee of House of Commons in Britain will be making an enquiry about the issue. UK has also faced the severe job migration from the country to India. "We will be raising the issue of the removal of UK jobs to call centers to places like India," Martin O’Neill, Chairman of the Commons Trade and Industry Select Committee, said the other day. Outsourcing to India on the other hand is on a roll. India is already a favored offshore destination for outsourcing services with major investment coming from United States.

Huge payback by outsourcing to India
When we mull over the Indian Outsourcing Industry – we are talking about $-billion industry paving the road for the extremes of globalization. There has been a tremendous growth for outsourcing to India over the years. India will be outsourcing giant in Asian region within next one-year outclassing Australia as the BPO service provider. By the year 2007 India will accumulate close to $14 billion dollars for offshore outsourcing generated. India also grabs more than half (about 66%) of the total offshore outsource business and presently scrapes up $1.8 through such activity.
Outsourcing to India can provide a huge payback-if you're willing to work at it. Strategic build up in right manner and evaluating the components – need to be outsourced – should be focused upon to earn maximum. The ultimate saving via outsourcing can be huge and outsourcing to India is right move at the moment. Though the concept of outsourcing is not new but the logical structure came into being only recently. Till few years ago outsourcing was called by different names due to the lack of a model. But today outsourcing is a well-explained term with direct action resulting to outright profit.

With certain trade benefits India is already the busiest outsourcing hub. It enables western firms to save massive revenues. And while the process of outsourcing to India is still in rapid progression, US government seems eager to pile up more savings.

It estimates that the banking and financial services sector in the US has made savings to the tune of $ 8 billion in the last four years by outsourcing to India. Moreover, the Indian BPO sector is currently dominated by captive outfits of global corporate firm, which have only scratched the surface of the worldwide market for process outsourcing.
The Customer Relationship Management (CRM) sector that India has developed over last few years is showing the prowess of its sustenance and maintenance. Outsourcing to India is economical
Outsourcing to India is very economical as it reduces to the operational cost to almost 50%-80% for the corporate firms in US or Europe. Manpower in India is technically efficient and makes best resource for such work. There is a very strong economic imperative that is fuelling the growth of the Indian Outsourcing Industry in terms of economic rationale wherein, profits are going higher and higher.
The growth within the outsourcing industry in India is also due to the fact that more and more companies (majorly from Fortune-500) are feeling need to outsource business. Experts believe that US corporate is too huge to rely in itself for outsourcing business. This decreases the pressure and helps in fostering the policies towards growth rather than busy completing daily office chores. Outsourcing to India is poised for a massive growth as the servicing industry in India is technically sound and reliable in output.

Massive US markets needs to outsource; Go overseas
The only set back for outsourcing industry in India was a whimpering in US about employment-migration resulting in severe job cuts. The issue - as many believes - was not that severe as projected by the US-media. An estimated 3-4% of population is engaged in BPO activities all over US. According to Gartner only 1.5% of the BPO market from US went offshore. India though grabs more than 50% of that - the finger is raised at India only.
The prime factor for outsourcing to India is low manpower cost. There is a need for large corporations to reduce costs according to business perspective. Outsourcing to India provides US companies huge opportunities to do this and over a longer period of time. Several analysts believe that the US market is quite enormous and outsourcing becomes a trade necessity. At the moment an ideal platform between US and India is required to address the issue and clarify the deep trenches build out of the bilateral corporate ties.

Unhindered growth for Outsourcing sector in India
The greatest challenge for the Indian outsourcing industry in the future would be to keep its stake in the market as lucrative as it is today. Outsourcing to India has been on a roaring growth since last 1-2 years and the experts believe such growth will be unhindered for another 3-4 years. Yet the Indian outsourcing industry should match the progress and keep pace with the growth to remain the most potential candidate in the field. Though at the moment there seems little hindrance as India is poised to grab almost 66% of the offshore BPO market – generating over next few years.
Outsourcing to India offer steeply low labor costs while supplying workers with excellent technical and financial know-how. The model of Indian Outsourcing Industry is nicely balanced at present. But the same standards has to be retained if India does not want countries like the Philippines, Russia, S Africa and now the China to pull offshore clients to their territory. Outsourcing to India is massively cost saving and if the present servicing standard is maintained the future for Indian economy is definitely promising.

India dominates outsourcing sector
The outsourcing service segment in India till date has seen no major competitor. Though the dominance of Indian outsourcing industry is been mapped several nations talked as the potential competitors in the near future. As yet only Chinese economy can pose a possible shift in lieu of outsourcing to India but that’ll require major buildup within the servicing segment as well developing infrastructure for smooth operations required for outsourcing.
At the moment there is no stopping for the Indian outsourcing segment. Everyday you can notice new deals pegging and hefty revenues flowing in. Even though China can bring the outsourcing cost 30-40% lower than what India offers, matching the Indian persona would be a bitter task. Outsourcing to India will sustain for a long duration and the competitors have to produce something drastic and revolutionary to suppress the Indian progress. Indian basic structure of English-oriented population, very stable and strong IT structure ensures that outsourcing to India remains unrestricted and fluent.

India hold advantage over China for outsourcing
Outsourcing to India is a ‘never-to-end’ quest and despite of outcries, protests and call for banning offshore outsourcing – BPO’s in India are shaping up as an industry with a stable and outstanding future. I was reading an article by Bruce Einhorn at ecommercetimes.com, discussing the emergence of China as the outsourcing destination by outclassing India. While India finds difficult to match China in terms of outsourcing of industry – outsourcing of services segment is way ahead of China. Even Larry Ellison of Oracles has favored India as the outsourcing services hub for the western corporate firms.
Indian efficiency in providing outsourcing facilities for the servicing sector has proved vital for the growth of outsourcing sector in India. Outsourcing to India costs very low –indeed – but what is advantageous is the nature of services. China finds difficult to match the English speaking advantage, plus IT infrastructure and that puts India way beyond China’s reach. Though the future is undisclosed to anybody, it will be apt to predict that India will be the powerhouse for outsourcing of services if it continues to grow at the present rate.
